It is with utter dismay that I have learnt of the devastation, destruction of infrastructure, injuries and loss of lives caused by the massive earthquakes that struck Venezuela, west of Caracas, last evening.
On behalf of the Government and people of Grenada and on my own behalf, I offer sincere condolences to those who have lost loved ones.
The rebuilding process after such devastating loss is never easy, but I am certain that the resilience and fortitude of the Venezuelan people will make a positive impact on said process.
We empathise with the Venezuelan Government and people, but express the hope that the people of La Guira, in particular, can embark on rebuilding their livelihoods with a positive mindset and the determination that lays the foundation for eminent reconstruction.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the people of Venezuela.
Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada
