Local media professional Sorana Mitchell has released another book.

On 27 December 2025, friends and well-wishers celebrated the launch of her latest entry into the literary world, the romance/erotica novel Forgive Us.

Mitchell said Forgive Us, which contains 3 novellas (literary works longer than a short story but shorter than a novel), is set in Grenada. She mentioned she started writing those stories about 15 years ago after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. “I had all these storylines running through my mind, and instead of being bombarded day and night with them just in my head, I decided to write.”

Mitchell admitted to falling in love with romance novels during her teenage years to escape her own reality. She also recalls being among students who got into trouble at secondary school for reading such materials, which were forbidden.

She explained, “I love, love and the notion that you can meet someone, and you both choose each other, and you work to build a life together. It is a beautiful thing when you no longer have to face the world alone.”

Mitchell said that deciding to publish the 3 stories was difficult at first because there was still a part of her that was concerned about what people would say, simply because they contain taboo intimate scenes.

She said, “I wrestled with that for a while, but then stepped into my true being to own my creation.”

Mitchell said she had to postpone the launch due to financial setbacks and other delays but was able to push through in the end.

She mentioned several local businesses in Forgive Us because she believes in collaboration. Mitchell said, “I believe that small businesses, especially on a small island like ours, need to find a way to collaborate more, and so I chose to include their products in my book. As a matter of fact, for the book launch, I advertised packages that included sensual products from some of the small businesses.”

The first novella in the book is Unexpected, which tells the story of a woman in her mid-forties who falls in love with a younger man. The second novella, His Pretty Girl, takes on the issues of class, appearance, particularly weight, and acceptance. And the third novella, Forgive Us, which is the title of the book, engages the reader in forbidden love between a priest and his childhood sweetheart.

Forgive Us is Mitchell’s second publication. Over 2 years ago, she published her memoir, Still Smiling. Both publications are available for purchase on Amazon.
