The Ministry of the Blue Economy and Marine Affairs announces Grenada’s participation in the 15th High-Level Forum on the Korea–Caribbean Partnership, held on 18 November 2025 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
The forum brought together senior representatives from the Caribbean and the Republic of Korea to examine practical cooperation in areas central to ocean governance, maritime resilience, and sustainable blue economy development.
Ambassador Jerry J Enoe, Special Envoy for Oceans, delivered Grenada’s statement during Session 2: Korea–Caribbean Cooperation for a Sustainable Blue Economy. In his intervention, Ambassador Enoe outlined Grenada’s national priorities, including the strengthening of ocean data systems, improved climate-smart fisheries management, innovation in marine governance, and enhanced coastal resilience. The intervention emphasised the importance of science-based policy, technology integration, and international partnerships in advancing Grenada’s long-term ocean development agenda.
During the forum’s bilateral and technical exchanges, the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) confirmed the availability of graduate study opportunities for professionals from coastal and island states. Through its London Protocol Engineering Master of Project Administration (LPEM) programme, KIOST provides advanced academic and technical training in marine science, coastal engineering, and ocean project administration. These areas of study are highly relevant to the capacity needs of Small Island Developing States, including Grenada, as they strengthen national systems for marine resource management and climate adaptation.
The ministry recognises the value of these academic pathways in supporting Grenada’s ongoing work to build a modern, knowledge-driven blue economy. Expanding national expertise in ocean science and project implementation is essential for improving coastal planning, enhancing resilience, and ensuring sustainable use of marine resources.
The Ministry of the Blue Economy and Marine Affairs will continue to monitor and facilitate access to opportunities arising from international cooperation frameworks, including those advanced through the Korea–Caribbean partnership.
