One year after the launch of its MSME Unit, Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited continues to honour its commitment to support medium, small and micro enterprises with a financial recordkeeping seminar, the first in a series of workshops intended to enhance how the bank’s MSME customers manage and operate their businesses.

Since launching the MSME Unit in May 2024, Grenada Co-operative Bank has implemented policies and procedures to facilitate easier access to financing for MSME businesses and offered a suite of financial solutions designed to meet the MSME sector’s needs. Co-op Bank’s MSME customers have also been able to benefit from professional support services provided by the bank’s partner agencies.

“We believe that we have delivered on our commitment,” expressed Ebernie Whyte-Best, Manager, Business Banking. “This is evident from the overall satisfaction ratings, the business growth experienced by our existing customers and the overall increase in our MSME base.”

The financial record-keeping seminar held on 22 May 2025, at Coyaba Beach Resort, was facilitated by Johnson Dion, Managing Partner of JD Consulting, one of Co-op Bank’s partner agencies for MSME support. The workshop focused on effective record-keeping and the benefits of preparing timely financial reports for planning and compliance purposes. Business owners from different sectors, including trucking and construction, agriculture, plumbing, auto sales, pharmaceuticals, pest control, and tourism, attended the workshop.

“This was a great initiative by Co-op Bank,” stated Kesmond Boatswain, owner of Verdant Auto and B’s Equipment Rental and Sales. “We are able to take home a lot of information that will aid us in being better businessmen and businesswomen.” Echoing Boatswain’s sentiment, Paris Fraser, owner of Kloud Rivere, added, “This session impacted my intentions for future growth of my business. I learned how I can use financial records to plan, not only for me, but also for my stakeholders, and to see where I can tap into additional resources.” Ralph Cadore, owner of Cadore Plumbing Service, and Akada Alexander, who co-owns two small businesses — Farm Boy and Xander Haulers — with her husband Ron Alexander, also expressed their gratitude to Co-op Bank for the opportunity to learn ways to grow and protect their businesses.

Co-op Bank remains a trusted partner for micro, small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs), and these workshops are part of the MSME Unit’s thrust to equip business owners with the tools they need to thrive.
