As Minister for Tourism, the Creative Economy and Culture, it gives me immense pride and admiration to extend my heartfelt congratulations to one of our brightest stars, our very own V’ghn [Jevaughn John], on his recent appointment as the newest Intellectual Property Youth Ambassador for the World Intellectual Property Organisation.

V’ghn, despite being very young, has long been a powerful force in Caribbean music, blending soul, rhythm, and meaningful messages into melodies that resonate with both body and mind. Who among us hasn’t felt the pull of “Trouble in the Morning” or been uplifted by the infectious energy of “Welcome to Spicemas”? These are more than songs; they are cultural statements, expressions of identity, and now, global tools for advocacy.

His anthem “Soca Nice” reminds us why our sound, our stories, and our creativity deserve recognition and protection. As WIPO’s IP Youth Ambassador, V’ghn will be sharing that message on the world stage. He will be encouraging young artists to respect their intellectual property and take full ownership of their talent.

This is not just a win for V’ghn; it’s indeed a win for Grenada. His journey speaks to the power of cultural expression and the potential it holds to transform lives, economies, and perceptions. This achievement reaffirms the government’s belief that the creative economy is a cornerstone of national development.

To V’ghn, I say this: you carry with you the rhythm of our people, the voice of our youth, and the hopes of a region ready to rise through art. Continue to blaze that trail; don’t forget to lift others as you climb and to show the world just how nice Soca and Grenada truly are.

Congratulations once again.
