- Thomas’ appointment notice published in Government Gazette 16 August edition
- Honourable David Andrew out of State on personal business
- Vacancy on government side in Senate since La Crette’s senatorial appointment revoked
25 August 2024 will be the last day for Honourable Delma Thomas to serve as Acting Minister for Youth and Sports according to her appointment notice which has been published in the 16 August edition of the Government Gazette.
“I DO HEREBY APPOINT YOU, THE HONOURABLE DELMA THOMAS, to act as Minister for Youth and Sports from 5th to 25th August, 2024 and to exercise all the functions and authority pertaining to that office until the return to the State of the said SENATOR THE HONOURABLE DAVID ANDREW. This appointment is additional to your present responsibilities. GIVEN under my hand this 6th day of August, 2024,” said the acting appointment notice.

Honourable David Andrew, Minister for Education, was appointed to act as Minister for Youth and Sports after Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell fired Jonathan La Crette, who had served in that post. La Crette also had his senatorial appointment revoked. There is now a vacancy on the government side in the Senate.
The notice said that Andrew left the State on personal business and it is necessary to appoint some other person to perform the functions of the said minister. The notice did not say who will be acting as Education Minister in Andrew’s absence.
An inquiry was sent to Press Secretary Neila Ettienne to find out who the Acting Education Minister is, but a reply was not received by the time this article was published.
