Laluna has partnered with Godfrey Luke for his “Wireman” art show, which opened Sunday 17 December 2023 and is on display until February 2024.

The Artist: 2023 marks 14 years that Godfrey Luke has been making art and teaching in Grenada. Luke works with paint, as well as specialising in making environmentally conscious art from parts of discarded items, like washing machines, computers, and electrical wires. His sculptures have been commissioned by Laluna Boutique Hotel & Villas and other Grenadian hotels. Luke is a wire-bender, creating winning carnival costumes in Grenada and a founder and director of the performing company, Ashanti Footprints, whose focus is on building confidence and emotional intelligence in youth, and nurturing creativity through the cultural performing arts — drumming, stilt-walking (Moko-Jumbie), dance, drama, singing, handicraft, and academic support.

Godfrey Luke’s Wireman art show at Laluna Laluna Art Project

The space is known as Laluna Art Project and comprised of “the enchanted forest + art studio” which experiments with the connection between Art and Hospitality, and “The Monkey Bar” – the food and beverage venue which features diverse street food cuisine, paired with live and DJ music events. The Monkey Bar is open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from noon to sunset, with a cool beach vibe, drinks and bites. It is also available for private events. The main entrance is from the Portici Beach public beach access in Point Salines.

14 December 2023 marked the 23rd anniversary of Laluna Boutique Hotel & Villas and the 3rd anniversary of the Art Space & Monkey Bar.

Over an acre of beachfront land has been dedicated to the art installations of 26 artists, both local and International, in a natural environment that we called “The Enchanted Forest”. The oldest and largest tree in the forest is home of the “Wishing Tree.” The art studio has been built with views of the Caribbean Sea. The perfect venue to lend creative inspiration to visiting and residing artists.

At Laluna, we’ll show the value of art in all its forms by providing intimate and unique experiences for you to meet them, learn about their work, and be inspired by their practice. You’ll meet passionate people eager to share their stories. This is the idea behind Laluna Art Project. We want to bring together the local community of artists, chefs, musicians, DJs and creative people. Explore new and old traditions and techniques and share them with our guests and friends. For more info pls visit The Laluna Art Project.
