On 20 October 2023, Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited and the Bank and General Workers’ Union signed a revised Collective Agreement before the Labour Commissioner (Ag) Sparkle Grenade-Courtney, on behalf of the Bank’s clerical, non-clerical and part-time employees.

Employees covered by the Collective Agreement which spans the 4-year period 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2023 have received a 10.25% salary increase over the period as well as enhanced benefits which were negotiated in line with the market.

At the signing ceremony, the Republic Financial Holdings Limited’s Senior Manager Group Employee & Industrial Relations and lead negotiator for Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited Condell Simmons, and Joseph Mitchell, President General of the Union, expressed their gratitude to the Minister of Labour and the Labour Commissioner for their efforts and contributions which assisted parties to successfully settle these negotiations.

They also acknowledged the challenges which arose during the collective bargaining process and affirmed a commitment to maintaining a collaborative approach to the practice of industrial relations in the interest of the Bank’s employees and its various stakeholders.

Parties concluded by committing to continue to partner with each other during the next round of negotiations which are scheduled to commence in early 2024.

Republic bank for months appears to be “the bank with no money”, its ATMs don’t work, card machines don’ t work it’s all about put money in but you can’t take it out. They must have lost millions in customers going elsewhere while this fiasco has been going on. It shouldn’t be like this, the management should look after its customers as well as its staff . Upset one and it upsets the other. Pretty fundamental really and they failed big time.
