Within the creative economy environment encouraged by the current government, Art School Greenz has stepped in to offer a 2-day workshop for visual artists which will deal with professional practices.

This workshop is offered on 1 and 8 July. Some of the topics to be discussed are:

  • The importance of professional practices in the industry
  • Different trajectories, or directions artists can take
  • Key items of documentation like CVs, bios, and artist statements
  • Workshopping your artistic vision, mission, and goals
  • Discuss effective strategies for establishing your web presence with your website and social media platforms
  • Explore ways to differentiate yourself in a competitive market through research as well as consistency

Facilitators are:

  • Susan Mains, DEd, BEM, artist, curator, gallerist of one of the longest running galleries in the Eastern Caribbean, and Commissioner for Grenada’s presence at the Venice Biennale for 6 editions
  • Asher Mains, MFA who has been practicing art for over 20 years, with work exhibited in 19 countries

Both facilitators are internationally recognised and can offer unique insights into the inner workings of accessing the international art world as well as how to maximise efforts while working locally, here in Grenada.

Art School Greenz was started in 2015 as an alternative art school designed for adults who would like to take their contemporary art practice further with short, affordable classes. Classes are taught by artists who are able to teach art school essentials in a contextual way that fits people’s schedules. Whether you would like to refine your skills or try something new, Art School Greenz in Grenada is a solution for continuing art education on island.

Classes for the workshop will be held in the spacious Art House 473 in Calliste. All are welcome, but we do limit the opportunity to ages 16+.

The unleashing of creativity comes from the practice of art, and these steps will give guidance as to how to develop these steps. Registration for this class can be found on www.artschoolgreenz.com

Always the Mains getting the support financial and promotions yet they treat other artists with disrespect, take advantage and generally are self-serving. Yes, they have talent, but integrity would be a nice addition. Arrogant too. Not serving the general population of Grenada at all.

Here we go with ideas of a developed island which we are not because this little island of ours can’t sustain the basics.
We always want but we don’t provide and this is our failure.
Simple things like our national dish is not widely available on a daily basis but I can guarantee that you will get chicken and chips anywhere on this little island anytime …failure
Each parish should have public library but that’s not the case .
Yet we are willing to invest in areas which has very limited benefits to our people.
