- “Indecent assault” is a summary offence with a maximum of 5 years’ imprisonment
A Dominican entertainer stands the possibility of being sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment in Grenada after he was arrested and charged by Police with one count of indecent assault.
36-year-old Shane ‘Sukie Burn Brain’ Edwards was scheduled to appear as an entertainment act at an event on the weekend at the National Stadium but instead, he was detained by Police on Friday night after a guest at the hotel where he was residing, made the criminal complaint against him.
He was picked up on Friday night and was charged on Saturday, 26 November 2022, the same day as the event. He did not receive bail and thus was unable to perform at the show. He was brought before a magistrate in St George’s on Monday morning. He was denied bail and remanded to Richmond Hill prison.
His lawyer Peter David said that he will return to Court on 1 December 2022. According to Grenada’s Criminal Code “indecent assault” means an assault committed in circumstances of indecency. It is a summary offence that carries a maximum term of 5 years’ imprisonment.
