The People’s Republic of China has donated EC$40,000 to the Spicemas Corporation, to help ensure the successful staging of Spicemas 2022.

The grant was handed over on Thursday morning to Minister for Youth, Sports, and Culture Hon. Ron Redhead and Chief Executive Officer of Spicemas Corporation Kelvin Jacob, by Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Grenada HE Wei Hongtian.

The presentation was made in the Ministry of Works Conference Room.

Minister Ron Redhead expressed gratitude for the kind gesture. He said, “the donation will go a long way in ensuring that we stage a successful carnival 2022.”

Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Grenada HE Wei Hongtian, said “the embassy is happy to provide support to the Corporation, which will result in an economic boost and support that will also benefit the tourism sector.”

Spicemas Corporation’s CEO Kelvin Jacob said, “following a 2-year suspension of Spicemas, they welcome the grant from the People’s Republic of China.”

I visited China in the year 2013, and attend the seminar on agriculture, made a lot of friends from other developing countries like South Afica. Like housing project and human resource training program, China provides economic and technical assistance to Grenada, benefiting our people and promoting practical technologies. It is good! For god’s sake, when could I go to China again!!!!

  2. Redhead says:

    Thank you, China!
Grenada really needs an excellent Carnival this year! We’ve been waiting for three years and right now our country and even the whole world are in a hard time. So the support from China is in the right way and right time.

Wait I thought NNP was selling out to China????? China never give without wanting something in return haven’t we learn this lesson from what recently happened in Kenya.. We elected Keet 2.0

So what is the “something” you are refering to??? Name one and let us know! Well, you just don’t know right because you are just parroting the gibberish!

    • Alice says:

You are smart but not smart enough. You don’t believe the news here but believed the news from the US. So you may not understand what happened in Kenya unless you live in Kenya. And, Why not think about the news all over the world that says bad things about China, but most countries are still cooperating with China? Are the whole world fools?

China is a snake in the grass — we should be supporting Taiwan, if anything. And $40,000 is pennies anyway (considering we needed $1 million from NLA) — not worth it!

    • Rivers says:

Yes go on and do it you fools. See that even the US, the rival of China, doesn’t have diplomatic ties with that Taiwan, when did Grenada become this arrogant? Nor ignorant? Or you are simply a robot from Taiwan???

  5. Raphael Gibbs says:

Grenada must be very careful of these “Gifts” from China. They do not “give” away nothing for nothing. Be careful of espionage. China see Grenada as a “weak spot,” so they intend to exploit it.

    • James says:

Ok, so next time please don’t go to the two national stadiums for any activities for they are espionage facilitates from China lol. Can’t imagine how follow Grenadians are brainwashed by the US media… or you are even not a Grenadian but a Taiwan spy your self lol?

  6. John Jones says:

So sad to see that Grenada new government don’t seem to understand how the Chinese government operate.
This new administration should investigate all Chinese “good” gesture. I thought we elected “new young and brilliant” people. Bribe! Bribe from the Chinese. Stay tuned.
    What a shame!

    • Wade says:

What a shame you don’t understand how the Chinese government operate! I can imagine how people like you would be furious when the investigation is done and nothing fishy was found! Why? Because you don’t simply care about the development of Grenada and the well-being of the people but your own interests. Live in your dream and it is a heaven for you!

    • Author says:

Easy for you to say !
The bribes you’re referring to are actually benefiting the people of Grenada.

It seems like you like countries that are hostile to you or treat you like you are their backyard.

Relationship with China is a dangerous , self defeating one. Reject China / Russia…. no go on any level ….. China was helping Sri Lanka rebuild …… Sri Lanka currently self destructing …. BEWARE GRENADA !!!!

    • Jazmine Charles says:

Spread the word, China should not be trusted. Do not sell Grenada to them for a hand full of silver and pretty beads…

      • Russ says:

Let me ask you Taiwanese, how much money did you offer to the candidates during the election and was shrugged off? LoL how pathetic, now you come here to smear the two countries’ relations because this is the only thing you can do imo

    • Janen Charles says:

We got nothing from the US except the empty checks, so we are not afraid of them will take over Grenada, although we know things happened in 1983.

    • Hill says:

Open your eyes and have a look at the life of Grenadians, they move into a better place under the cooperation between China and Grenada

    • William Carlson says:

It seems that the cause and effect relationship is reversed in your world, didn’t Sri Lanka destroy itself first and then need to rebuild.

  8. Hugo Charles says:

Grenada must end diplomatic ties to China. All Chinese work should investigateed and workers who are illegal in Grenada should be deported.

    • Russ says:

Come on Taiwanese, don’t be so hasty…IF you think that your trash words could shake the relations between Grenada and China then you are so naive…just a waste of time imo
