The Grenada Chapter of the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) together with the Government of Grenada – through the Ministry of Climate Resilience, Environment, Forestry, Fisheries, Disaster Management & Information and the Ministry of Youth Development, Sports, Culture & the Arts – will be hosting Youth for Climate Resilience and the Environment Symposium 2018.

Youth for Climate Resilience and the Environment Symposium (Y-CRES) is a National Conference of Youth (NCOY) stemmed from the official youth constituent of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), YOUNGO (Youth NGOs). Y-CRES seeks to provide information about climate change and energy as an important national, regional and global issue; introduce the international climate negotiating process to youth; explore perceptions of and views on issues related to climate change and energy on an individual and community level; and discuss approaches to deal with these issues.

The two-part symposium with the theme Engaging Young Citizens on Climate Change and Energy will begin at 9 am, on 31 October at the Grenada Trade Centre, with the morning segment (9 am – noon) focused on the issue of climate change and energy and the preparation of a national youth statement. During the afternoon segment, from 1 pm – 3:30 pm presenters will highlight climate change activities in Grenada and discuss how the nation can become involved.

CYEN Grenada encourages the public to register to participate by completing online forms for morning and afternoon segments respectively at https://goo.gl/HGp3ur and https://goo.gl/QHdGax. Following each segment, refreshments will be provided. Admission is free.
