Grenada Coalition of Services Industries, the umbrella body for services in Grenada, is currently observing its 3rd annual “Services Week” from 29 October to 2 November 2018, under the Theme “Services: the way we grow”.
During this week’s celebrations, one of the highlighted activities is the second annual e-Career Day, bringing together professionals from different service trades/industries together to enlighten and empower our next generation of leaders, workers, innovators and entrepreneurs.
The e-Career Day takes place on Thursday, 1 November extending its reach to 21 secondary schools in Grenada and Carriacou and giving access to close to 1,000 fourth and fifth form secondary students to valuable ideas and information for planning their educational/professional future.
The students will be able to see, hear and interact with professionals who will share valuable insights about their careers (including the paths to developing them) and ask them questions using the Go-To-Meeting platform.
The sectors being highlighted are:
- ICT Operations
- Environmental Protection
- Computer Programming
- Architecture and Urban Planning
- Healthcare and Nursing
- Mobile Apps creation
- Photography
It will be a great opportunity for students to hear from experts and get firsthand information on career paths they are interested in and to know what is expected and needed to not just work within those fields, but to excel in them.
Among the professionals presenting at this event would be one of the designers of our new Parliament building, the creators of the “Go-to-Fete” app as well as other young local business owners/entrepreneurs.
This year’s Service Week will end with an award ceremony on Friday afternoon at the GIDC Conference Room, Frequente Industrial Park.
