Mr Mike Sylvester served as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance for a number of years, and in a matter of days, he will serve as Acting Permanent Secretary.
His elevation comes following the appointment of long standing Permanent Secretary Mr Timothy Antoine as Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr. Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell during his first national address for 2016.
“We have recommended to the Public Service Commission to elevate Mike Sylvester to act as Mr Antoine’s replacement. We have every confidence that Mr Sylvester has played an integral part on the team that has guided the ministry in recent years, is a fitting replacement,” Dr Mitchell said.
Among other changes in the Ministry, Chief Budget Officer Ms Kim Frederick has been recommended to be the Deputy Permanent Secretary, and Budget Officer Mr Kerry Pierre has been recommended to be the Acting Chief Budget Officer.
Plans are also in train to add an Economic Advisor, Debt Management Advisor and Macro Planner to the staff.
