Grenada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Clarice Modeste Curwen has praised China for its support in the development of the country’s Human Resource sector.

The Minister paid tribute to China at a recent ceremony held to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Republic of China and Grenada partnership.

Minister Modeste Curwen referred to China as a dear friend and praised the gains made by the two countries over the past ten years, while assuring the nation that more support from China is in the pipeline.

Minister Curwen announced that the government of China has just given Grenada US$20 million that will go towards housing and the refurbishment of the cricket stadium.

China’s ambassador to Grenada, Her Excellency Madame Ou Boqian, stated that Beijing wants to continue assisting in the growth and development of Grenada and highlighted a track record of achievements.

“The national cricket stadium has been the landmark of Grenada and three phases of technical cooperation has been implemented, while the restoration and reconstruction of the athletic stadium is supposed to be completed this year” said Madam Ou.

She further acknowledged the first batch of low-income houses are ready for distribution, and said that more houses and scholarships are on the way.
