Hundreds of Trinidadians are visiting Grenada for 2014 Spicemas, and officials from the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) will be having a special welcome for those arriving on the Paria Bullet on Friday morning.

Arriving in Grenada on Friday morning, will be the Paria Bullet Water Taxi Service out of Trinidad, with more than 300 passengers who will be residing for the Carnival period at guest houses, hotels and at private homes.

“The group has booked different accommodation, as some will be at hotels, apartments, and guest houses. Some opted to use home stay vacations,” said Chrislyn Lashington, Corporate Communications Officer at the GTA.

This is the third Carnival trip for the Paria Bullet. The GTA is facilitating the arrival at 9 am Friday, 8 August, at the Burns Point Cruise Welcome Centre. Tourism Minister Alexandra Otway-Noel, along with the Board of Directors and staff of the GTA will be giving tokens to the arriving guests. Trio Entertainment will be filling the air with the music of Spicemas 2014.

In order the accommodate the growing demands for flights out of Trinidad for Grenada Carnival 2014, Caribbean Airlines has put on a special flight which will depart Piarco Airport at 5:10 pm today Thursday.

Statistics from Immigration has shown that Trinidad is Grenada’s largest Caricom Market, so the continuous increase in arrival from there should not be any surprise to tourism stakeholders. Earlier in the year, officials from the GTA launched Grenada’s carnival in Trinidad by holding special functions for travel agents and the media.

Spicemas was launched on 2 June and will conclude on 12 August with the “last lap” jump up on the streets of St George’s.

The major activities began last Saturday with the hosting of the Kiddie’s Carnival. The National Queen Show will be held tonight; Soca Monarch on Friday, Panorama on Saturday, Dimanche Gras on Sunday, J’Ouvert and Pageant on Monday morning and evening respectively, and the final Parade of the Bands on Tuesday.
