Groundation Grenada Looking For 2 Interns

Groundation Grenada is now accepting applications for their 2014 internship programme. They are seeking to appoint two candidates, preferably current university/college students or recent graduates living in Grenada.

This is an unique opportunity to explore interests in areas of social justice, art and film, journalism, public health, education and community building, under the guidance of and in co-operation with an experienced and radical team. Applications are due no later than midnight Friday 31 May, 2014.

Positions:

  • Editorial and Outreach Intern
  • Project Intern

Duration: Both internships last for approximately 6 months (15 June through December 2014)

Approximate hours: 8-10 hours per week

Location: Most of the internship’s operations will be based online. Candidates will also be required to participate in check-in meetings, group working meetings and help coordinate Groundation events.

Requirements of Applicants:

  • Preferably a current college/university student or recent graduate
  • Living in Grenada between June and December 2014
  • Consistent and reliable internet access
  • Competence with Microsoft Office
  • Independent worker who understands accountability and teamwork
  • An attention to detail and an ability to follow through
  • Familiarity with audio/video and photo editing programmes is a plus

Description and Responsibilities: Under the guidance of their co-directors, Groundation Interns will have an opportunity to develop a creative practice and professional work ethic, in addition to getting involved with a locally based group that is becoming internationally recognised. As a Groundation Intern you will be encouraged to pursue your passions and gain inspiration from unconventional places. You will have the chance to spearhead at least one project, adding a concrete milestone to your work experience. Internship tasks include:

Editorial and Outreach Intern

  • Organise and maintain contact database of artists, writers and organisers locally, regionally and internationally
  • Develop a solid writing practice via editorial and creative work
  • Help with graphic design and audio/visual production
  • Coordinate writing and editorial schedule for blog
  • Assist in social media presence and management
  • Perform general administrative and editorial tasks

Project Intern

  • Work collaboratively with artists, writers and organisers on local, regional and international levels
  • Act as a Liaison for visiting artists and guests
  • Plan and execute events and special projects
  • Assist in documenting events and progress on initiatives
  • Assist in social media presence and management
  • Be involved with team research, marketing, and community outreach
  • Help with graphic design and audio/visual production
  • Perform general administrative tasks

  • Invaluable work experience to enrich your resume
  • Satisfy TAMCC 30hr community service requirement. May also fit SGU requirement.
