Leonard Wadewitz, Director of Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) for Latin America and the Caribbean said ‘congratulations,’ as he announced the TA Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) as the winner of the “Rising Star” award for being the fastest growing academic partner in Latin America and the Caribbean.

CompTIA is a non-profit trade association serving as the voice of the information technology industry. Through professional certifications, educational programmes, research, networking events, philanthropy and public policy advocacy, CompTIA is dedicated to helping advance the IT industry.

TAMCC will receive this award during the upcoming CompTIA Partner Summit, on 2-4 August 2017. This milestone was achieved through the college’s initiative to include CompTIA into its curriculum, and by introducing an IT Innovation Programme for secondary schools.

As a result of TAMCC earning this award, its logo will be displayed on banners at the Partner Summit in August and published on the CompTIA’s website.

David Fleming, Interim Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs will represent the college at the summit and receive the award on the college’s behalf.

Seldon Walker is the Coordinator for Informatics at the college, and he has been leading the new IT initiative in the School of Continuing Education. At the same time, he has been functioning as the main instructor for both full-time and part-time programmes for the CompTIA A+ and CompTIA N+ certifications. This August, Walker is due to complete his qualification to become the only person in Grenada who is trained and certified as

  1. CompTIA Cyber Security Analyst (CSA+): Able to validate critical knowledge and skills that are required to prevent, detect and combat cyber security threats.
  2. CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP): Able to critically think and judge across a broad spectrum of security disciplines.
  3. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP): Possesses deep technical and managerial competency, skills, experience, and credibility to design, engineer, implement, and manage information security programme that can protect organisations from growing sophisticated attacks.

Walker is due to travel out of state to have his certificates/licences renewed and upgraded.
