Property Tax resumes on Carriacou and Petite Martinique

The Government of Grenada, through the Ministry of Finance and the Inland Revenue Division (IRD), advises the residents of Carriacou and Petite Martinique that Property Tax will officially return on 1 January 2026.

This announcement follows the temporary suspension of Property Tax collections after the passage of Hurricane Beryl in 2024, when the Government took deliberate steps to ease the financial strain on households, safeguard livelihoods, and support recovery on the sister islands.

Over the past year, Carriacou and Petite Martinique have made steady progress in rebuilding homes, restoring businesses, and returning to normal community life. As reconstruction advances and stability returns for many families, the re-establishment of Property Tax obligations marks an important part of restoring full administrative normalcy across the tri-island state.

The Ministry of Finance assures the public that special consideration will continue to be given to residents whose properties remain damaged, unrepaired, or not yet reconstructed. Individuals in this category are encouraged to contact the IRD Sub-Office in Carriacou to confirm their status and determine their eligibility for exemptions or special accommodation. The government remains committed to ensuring that no property owner who is still facing genuine hardship is unfairly burdened.

The Government encourages all residents of Carriacou and Petite Martinique to stay engaged with official updates and to reach out to the IRD team for any support needed as the island transitions back to the standard Property Tax regime. Public information efforts and direct community support will continue over the coming months to guide property owners through the process and ensure a smooth and fair return to regular taxation.

For further information or clarification, residents may contact the Inland Revenue Division Carriacou Sub-Office at 440-3556 or visit ird.gd for updates.
