Rashida Isaac, a self-taught visual artist from La Poterie, St Andrew in Grenada, began her career as a hyper-realistic charcoal artist, producing emotive portraits. Recently, she transitioned to colour, creating 3D art pieces from traditional painting and upcycling plastics, paper and other waste materials.

Rashida has gained significant recognition, particularly after her display of Tanty an’ she basket ah Cocoa at the Grenada 50th Art Exhibition at Olympic House in 2024. This success sparked her subsequent creations, including popular cocoa pod and nutmeg keyrings.

To celebrate this artistic evolution, Rashida is fulfilling a long-held dream by hosting her first solo art exhibition titled “New Beginnings” at the True Blue Bay Resort. The free exhibition will open to the public on 19 November at 4 pm. During the opening event, she will share her exploration of 2D drawing, 3D painting and upcycling. The exhibition, which runs for 1 week, will showcase her original charcoal drawings, 3D canvas paintings from her New Beginnings series, upcycled functional art, craft, and décor inspired by Grenada’s cocoa, nutmeg and other spices.

Rashida invites everyone to experience this memorable milestone in her art career, and hopes that her journey will inspire and motivate people to find creative and mindful ways to reuse and repurpose items while also celebrating Grenada through her art and creativity.
