Chief Cultural Officer in the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture Kelvin Jacob, is travelling to Hangzhou, China, to participate in the Third Liangzhu Forum, taking place from 18–20 October 2025.
The Liangzhu Forum was initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in 2023. It serves as a premier global platform dedicated to promoting cultural diversity, heritage conservation, and international cultural exchange. The event convenes distinguished artists, scholars, policymakers, and institutional leaders from around the world.
This year’s theme “Revitalisation of Civilisation: Cultural Heritage and Diversity of Human Cultures” underscores the importance of safeguarding cultural identity while fostering mutual understanding and learning among nations.
Jacob, who will return to Grenada on 29 October, has been officially invited to deliver the Feature Address at the World Poetry, Dance, Music, and Visual Art Salon, one of the forum’s most anticipated sessions. His presentation, titled “Shared Beauty, Shared Civilisation,” will explore how cultural exchange and aesthetic expression can promote unity, creativity, and global understanding.
This milestone represents a significant achievement in Grenada’s cultural diplomacy, as Jacob will share the nation’s artistic vision and heritage with an international audience of cultural leaders and creatives — amplifying Grenada’s contribution to global civilisation.
In addition to participating in the forum, Jacob will engage in a series of cultural and educational visits across China, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the areas of arts, heritage, tourism, and creative industry development. His itinerary includes:
- Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province: home to the world’s largest small commodities market and a vibrant hub of international trade and cultural exchange
- Beijing: where he will visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, and the historic hutongs, exploring heritage preservation and cultural tourism models
- Shanghai: one of the world’s leading modern cultural metropolises, featuring The Bund, the Oriental Pearl Tower, and key creative industry zones
The ministry views this invitation as a significant recognition of Grenada’s growing cultural leadership in the Caribbean and beyond.
