The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) recently concluded a dynamic two-day workshop designed to elevate the capabilities and global readiness of Grenadian entrepreneurs, business owners, and vendors.

This initiative reflects the GTA’s continued commitment to national development through tourism-driven enterprise and community empowerment.

The workshop was facilitated by Shelley Worrell, a celebrated creative entrepreneur and the visionary founder of “I AM Caribbeing”, a culturally rich platform known for fusing Caribbean identity, innovation, and commerce. With a deep-rooted passion for advancing the Caribbean entrepreneurial landscape, Worrell brought a wealth of global insight and practical strategies to the sessions.

Day 1 of the workshop focused on “Export Readiness,” equipping entrepreneurs and small business owners with the tools to assess their business models, strengthen their brand narratives, and prepare for expansion into international markets. The session provided participants with tangible steps for building sustainable, scalable ventures rooted in Grenadian culture and excellence.

Day 2 placed the spotlight on the Grand Anse Craft and Spice Market. Participants benefitted from the insight of cultural storyteller Kered Clement, who guided vendors through the power of authentic Caribbean storytelling, customer experience and emotional connection as vital components of brand identity and business success.

“I AM Caribbeing had the honour of piloting a 2-day entrepreneur training programme in partnership with Pure Grenada, culminating in a meaningful fireside chat with the future of Grenadian tourism, the students of TAMCC,” said Worrell. “From market-ready brands to craft artisans at Grand Anse, we’ve seen firsthand the incredible potential rooted in Grenada’s creative economy. We deeply believe in the power of Caribbean culture, community and commerce and look forward to building on this transformative initiative to drive economic growth and cultural exchange in Grenada, across the Caribbean and beyond.”

The workshop saw an enthusiastic turnout, with 50 attendees across both days, including students, entrepreneurs and seasoned vendors, all eager to gain insight and sharpen their entrepreneurial edge.

Petra Roach, CEO of the GTA, underscored the importance of this initiative as a catalyst for inclusive growth. “Tourism is about people, culture and the unique stories that make our destination stand out. By investing in our local entrepreneurs and vendors, we are nurturing the very soul of our tourism product and ensuring that the benefits of the industry are felt by communities across the country. This workshop is part of a broader push to position Grenadian talent on the global stage while strengthening our foundation at home.”

Through initiatives like this, the Grenada Tourism Authority continues to champion the intersection of tourism and entrepreneurship, recognising that a thriving local business sector is critical to sustainable national development and long-term economic resilience.
