Teddy St Louis is Chief of Staff in Prime Minister’s Office

Attorney Teddy St Louis, who resigned as chief magistrate in February 2023, has been appointed to the top political post of Chief of Staff for the Dickon Mitchell administration — the second person to be appointed to that post.

The first was William Joseph who was appointed by the Tillman Thomas administration which was voted out of office in February 2013. Joseph served in that post for no more than 2 years.

St Louis who is also the Vice Chairman of Grenlec’s board of directors, was among delegates of the Prime Minister’s entourage for his recent trip to Nigeria. St Louis was pictured in photos with the Prime Minister during his visit to companies owned and operated by Aliko Dangote, a well known Nigerian businessman.

It is not known when St Louis began working in the post of Chief of Staff because neither the Prime Minister nor press secretary Neila Ettienne responded when asked about the appointment.

Internet searches explained that the title Chief of Staff identifies the leader of a complex organisation such as the armed forces or body of persons, who is the coordinator of the supporting staff or a primary aide-de-camp to an important individual, such as a president or a senior military officer, or leader of a large organisation or corporation.

In general, a chief of staff provides a buffer between a chief executive and that executive’s direct-reporting team. The chief of staff generally works behind the scenes to solve problems, mediate disputes, and deal with issues before they are brought to the chief executive.
