Material support is now being provided to public officers and members of the public in Carriacou, as the Government of Grenada continues to assist in rebuilding the housing stock on the island.
The latest donation of materials in the Hurricane Beryl relief efforts comes from the Government and people of Guyana.
Members of the Guyana Defense Force have been on the island for almost 2 months, assisting with rebuilding some government housing facilities. They have completed work on the roof of the Administrative Building. New windows are now being installed.
Meanwhile, cleaning up of the island, dubbed “Project Pristine”, continues, providing jobs for close to 100 residents.
Work is also taking place to fully restore the supply of electricity. The Grenada Electricity Services, with assistance from the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC), has restored electricity to more than 800 homes and businesses in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
With water being a major concern, the National Water and Sewerage Authority (Nawasa) continues to supply 600 gallons of free water to residents, while also filling the black tanks set up as water distribution points in the various communities.
