UK Home Office announces introduction of eVisas

The British High Commission in St George’s presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Export Development of Grenada and has the honour to notify the Government of Grenada that the Home Office of the United Kingdom will be introducing eVisas, which from January 2025 replace physical documents such as the biometric residence permit (BRP), a visa vignette sticker (a physical visa sticker in a passport), or an immigration ink stamp, or the biometric residence card (BRC), for all people who need a visa apart from visitors.

This decision has been taken to deliver a digital border and immigration system, a better experience for customers and improved security and efficiency.

Some countries may need to consider the effect of the United Kingdom’s transition to eVisas on their internal processes and procedures. This may include processes such as exit checks, passport issuance, and processing applications where verification of UK immigration status may be required.

If anyone encounters difficulties during the transition to eVisas, we would appreciate you directing them to http://www.gov.uk/evisa for information and support.

To help organisations understand and confidently communicate with others about these changes, the Home Office has prepared a communications ‘Partner Pack’ with downloadable factsheets and guidance videos available here.

The United Kingdom values its relationship with Grenada and reiterates its desire to continue strengthening those bonds.

The British High Commission in St George’s avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development of Grenada the assurance of its highest consideration.
