St George’s, Grenada – Monday, 1 July 2024, 1:00 pm  

Beryl continues to produce catastrophic winds and life-threatening storm surges to the Grenadine Islands, Carriacou Island, and Grenada. This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation.

Residents should not leave their shelter and remain in place through the passage of these life-threatening conditions. A weather station at Grenada airport recently reported a sustained wind speed of 92 mph and a gust of 121 mph.

A weather station in St Lucia recently reported a sustained wind speed of 52 mph and a gust of 63 mph. The minimum central pressure was 946 mb. Maximum sustained winds of 150 mph. The eye of Hurricane Beryl was located near latitude 12.6 North, longitude 61.9 West, about 35 miles NNW of Grenada: and 30 miles WNW of Carriacou. Beryl is moving toward the WNW at 20 mph.

The Met Office and NaDMA continue to monitor this system.

The public is encouraged to follow the advisories and forecasts the Meteorological Office and NaDMA issued.
