In preparation for the passage of Hurricane Beryl, the National Water and Sewerage Authority (Nawasa) advises all residents of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique of the following precautionary measures to ensure the safety and adequacy of water supply.
Water Systems Shutdown Schedule:
- Carriacou and Petite Martinique: Water systems will be shut down at 6 pm today
- Mainland Grenada: Water systems will be shut down at 9 pm today
This planned shutdown is necessary to allow consumers to adequately recharge their water storage facilities and ensure they have sufficient water supply during and after the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
Nawasa encourages all residents to take the following steps:
- Store Water: Ensure that you have sufficient water stored for drinking, cooking, and sanitation needs. Our recommendation is 35 gallons of water per person, per day for a minimum of 6 days
- Secure Water Containers: Make sure all water storage containers are clean and securely covered
- Conserve Water: Use stored water wisely to make it last throughout the hurricane period
Nawasa understands the inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your cooperation as we take these necessary steps to safeguard our water systems and ensure the continued provision of water to all residents.
