Traffic arrangements for Carifta Games at National Stadium

The Royal Grenada Police Force notifies the general public, and in particular motorists, that the following traffic arrangements will be in effect for the 51st Carifta Games at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium from Saturday, 30 March to Monday, 1 April 2024.

These traffic arrangements will be in effect from 5 am to 11 pm each day.

All vehicular traffic entering the stadium will use Queen’s Park Ring Road from its intersection with Cherry Hill, St George. Also, at the Humpback Bridge, where it joins with River Road Public Road, no vehicular traffic will be allowed to enter.

No vehicular traffic will be allowed to enter the stadium from the Mt Gay or Mt Rush directions.

NO ENTRY:

Vehicular traffic will not be allowed to enter the following areas:

  • Old Fort public road from its junction with Lucas Street
  • Cemetery Hill from its junction with Church Street
  • Humpback Bridge from its junction with River Road
  • The Ring Road from its junction with Mt Rush Public Road towards the direction of the Humpback Bridge

PARKING

  • VIP parking will be in the concrete area in front of the Kirani James Athletic Stadium
  • Parking for media houses, caterers, and senior police officers working at the games will be in the grass area to the left upon entry of the Kirani James Car Park
  • Persons with authorised vehicle passes will be allowed to park on Wesley College grounds
  • Buses transporting athletes and officials will be allowed to park at Gate 6

Public parking will be available in the following areas: Tanteen Playing Field, Old Trafford Playing Field, and Grand Mal Playing Field.

Persons emerging from Grand Anse and Eastern Main Road are encouraged to utilise Tanteen and Old Trafford, while persons coming from the west should make use of Grand Mal.

NB: Any spillover parking will be on one side of the Stadium Ring Road, opposite Petrocaribe and Grenlec.

NO PARKING:

No parking will be allowed in the following areas:

  • Melville Street from the Fish Market to Keep Left
  • From there, keep left for Cherry Hill, inclusive of Queens Park Public Road
  • Cemetery Hill intersection with River Road to L A Purcell’s Lumber Yard
  • The left side of the stadium rings in the Darbeau direction
  • Mt Rush public road from its intersection with Stadium Ring Road to the beginning of the hill
  • River Road from its intersection with Cemetery Hill to L A Purcell’s Lumber Yard

ONE-WAY:

At the conclusion of the events each day, vehicles will only be allowed to travel on the following roads in one direction, as stated hereunder:

  • River Road Public Road, towards the De Caul roundabout
  • Mt Rush Public Road, towards Mt Gay
  • Mortley Hill towards Sans Souci

EMERGENCY ROUTE:

 All emergency vehicles will travel along Cemetery Hill, Church Street, Grand Etang Road onto The General Hospital.
