The island of Petite Martinique was not left out of the dive certification course organised by the Division of Youth within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government.
Five young men and 1 female from the 500-acre island are benefitting from the training.
Youth Officer Georgina Ray said it is important to involve the youth since Petite Martinique is known as a seafaring island with many earning their livelihood from the fishing trade.
The training is being done in collaboration with Deefer Diving located in Hillsborough, Carriacou.
This now brings the total number of young men involved in the dive certification course to 12. It’s part of an effort by the Division of Youth to embark on non-traditional training courses to increase the employability of young people on Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
