Beginning Saturday, 28 November 2020, all travellers to Grenada will be required to obtain a PCR test from a certified laboratory within 72 hours of travel, and receive negative results in order to enter the country.
The 72-hour testing mandate will replace the current stipulation of securing the PCR test within 7 days of travel. The change in testing period follows a collective decision taken at a recent OECS meeting.
Health experts believe that people getting tested within 72 hours of travel will help to lessen potentially positive diagnoses after travellers enter the island. The closer the period is between testing and flight the less time individuals will have to contract the virus in their communities of origin before boarding the flight.
This measure is one more step in Grenada’s thrust to maintain a low case count, given the rising numbers of positive Covid-19 cases around the world.
Grenada’s recently announced entry requirement, the Pure Safe Travel Authorisation Certificate, helps to provide an added layer of health screening of potential travellers to the country.
Individuals are now able to complete and submit an online application for entry into the country, as well as upload their negative PCR test results onto the application. Once the application is approved, they will receive a Pure Safe Travel Authorisation Certificate.
Travellers are also required to present an electronic or printed copy of the certificate during check-in at their airports of origin.
The Pure Safe Travel Authorisation application can be accessed on covid19.gov.gd.

People are just being selfish. For most of us who live abroad we know the seriousness of covid-19 be it a conspiracy or not.We have seen first hand the refrigerated trucks, overwhelmed funeral homes, overwhelmed families, overwhelmed doctors, nurses (healthcare workers on a whole). How can we be so selfish ? Where is Grenada going to get the resources to the with hundreds of people being sick at the same time ? Who are they going to call the national guard? Travel nurses, volunteers, ocme, prisoners, who? Has anyone thought of that? What is the population of Grenada? How many covid-19 deaths have you seen first hand in one day? Do you think Grenada can handle that? Who’s ready for code 99? When you answer all of this you can take your vacation. Me am just finished rapid testing and PCR testing all of my staff because of one + test result. BE SAFE EVERYONE
You must not be keeping up with the news here. What about the national who was living abroad and broke the quarantine by leaving the hotel before the results got back…he went to lime and party in his parish, I won’t name it, and then they had to do contract tracing. What about the boyfriend who hid in the quarantine girlfriends room, nationals, when they found out and got to the room, he jumped out of the window and got caught because he broke his ankle…fool! So why you don’t keep up with the news? I can name 2 more cases of nationals returning. So don’t say tourist stay out…nationals need to stay where they are. The government want to say this but cannot, so they stiffen the rules for everyone. The government do want the tourist to come..they just doing what they can to keep EVERYONE SAFE. And to you…WHY DONT THE LOCALS WEAR THE MASK AS GOVERNMENT ASK? THEY COULD BE A CARRIER AND NOT KNOW IT??? Look around you…you wear your mask? Correctly? I wonder…so don’t be so quick to bad mouth tourist, look at your own!!! I could not resist after your selfish comment…Peace and love
What will be the process for those who want to enter the country by sailboat?
I am a visitor to grenada and my son wants to join me from trinidad. Were can he go to get a 72 hour PCR test prior to travelling on December 7th 2020. I am leaving/returning on the 19th even if it is few days we wants to visit the spice isle with me. What and where can he go??
Hayden, did you come from Trinidad to Grenada in the last few months? You would have had to get PCR to get into Grenada. That same place you got the PCR in Trinidad, can he not get before leaving? Are the flights between Trinidad and Grenada still happening with the Prime Minister closing the borders? Just wondering?????
The new requirements for entry would make it very difficult if not impossible for us, we are over 70, to fulfil. So sadly we would be unable to come to Grenada for our usual 6 weeks in January. We have been coming for nearly 20 years.
However if we were vaccinated, would all the above still be required?
To upload the completed forms 48 hours including a negative pcr test that has to be carried out 72 hours before your flight and expect a reply from the MOH before takeoff will be nigh on impossible, I am still waiting for a reply to my emails that I sent before my last trip, they remain unopened to this day
People! The main priority is to keep covid OUT of Grenada and keep the lthe people SAFE. The case of covid was brought into Grenada. No one should be permitted to enter Grenada unless for absolute emergencies!
I requested home quaritne on October 22nd from the ministry of health an as of today November 22nd I did not hear from them.
Did you know that a medical Doctor was given the privilege of going home to quarantine and he broke it…they received a report of POSITIVE PCR ,found out he and wife??? had been to 3 different restaurants. This may be the reason you have dont heard from them!!! A stupid move by 1 person spoiling it for you. They say the locals returning are the ones breaking the rules, not tourist. So I would say you are a risk in their eyes…asking for home quarantine. Keep up with their news online…they are telling the stories without names!!! Happened about 3 times i believe where locals breaking the rules.
