The vibrant sounds of steel pan music will resonate through the Carenage this Father’s Day as We Pan Fest brings together the community to celebrate culture and family.
Organised by Senator the Honourable Claudette Joseph and the Town Community, the event will take place on Sunday, 16 June from 4 pm to 9 pm at the Pedestrian Plaza on The Carenage.
“We Pan Fest is an opportunity to honour our fathers while highlighting the cultural heritage that defines our community,” said Senator Joseph. “This event brings energy and vitality to the picturesque Carenage, offering a space for everyone to come together in celebration.”
The one-day event will feature performances by some of Grenada’s finest steel bands: the Co-op Bank Commancheros, Suzuki/Foodfair Pan Wizards, and reigning panorama champions Nexa New Dimension. Attendees will also enjoy performances by notable Calypsonian Rootsman Kelly, former Groovy Soca Monarch Blaka Dan, Khaos, LED, Lasho, Zeal, Yung Madd and Yung Pert.
In addition to the rich musical lineup, We Pan Fest will provide a variety of food and beverage options, ensuring that attendees can savour the flavours of Grenada while enjoying the festivities. Face painting will be available for children, making this event suitable for the entire family.
Entry to We Pan Fest is free, reflecting a commitment to making cultural celebration accessible to all members of the community.
Senator Joseph also shared her vision for the future of We Pan Fest, expressing a desire to host the event more frequently and potentially introduce a competitive aspect. “We aim to make We Pan Fest a recurring celebration that not only brings joy and unity but also encourages the development of our talented musicians. Introducing a competition element in the future could add an exciting dynamic and further promote our rich musical heritage.”
