The Division of Sports, in collaboration with the Caricom Secretariat, is currently registering athletes for the 17th Caricom Road Races, scheduled for Saturday, 6 July 2024, in Grenada.
Registration can be submitted online at raceroster.com or by contacting the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Road runners are encouraged to register to participate in the events.
Kerlon Peters, Coordinator of Sports, said the race is expected to be of the highest standard. The first race will commence at 8 am from Camerhogne Park in Grand Anse, up to Tanteen, and back to Camerhogne Park.
The categories of races are as follows:
- Elite 10K: This race is by invitation only and will have 2 professional athletes (one male and one female) representing each Caricom country
- Open 10K: for athletes age 16 years and over
- Youth 1.7K: athletes age 15 years and under (route will be within the Morne Rouge area)

Prizes for the respective races are as follows:
All participants will be given medals to acknowledge their participation in the races.
Grenada’s representatives in the Elite 10K are Kennisha Pascal and Livron Thorne.
Transportation will be available to and from the race venue, with departure at 6 am from the west and east. A local organising committee is organising the logistics for the event.

Question: why is the event excluding athletes who are over 15 years old, but under 16 years old? May I suggest that the youth category should be for athletes under 16?
