- Female encountered difficulties on Sunday, 17 March; unresponsive to CPR
- British couple died from “apparent drowning” in Carriacou
- American couple presumed dead
Police in Grenada are investigating the death of a female visitor, which occurred in the swimming pool of a hotel in the south of the island in the early hours of Sunday, 17 March 2024.
“At approximately 5:10 am, members of the RGPF responded to reports of a drowning at a hotel in the south of the island. Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased went swimming in the hotel swimming pool when she encountered difficulties in the water,” said a news release from the Community Relations Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF).
“The deceased was retrieved from the swimming pool and CPR was administered, but she was unresponsive. She was subsequently pronounced dead by a medical doctor,” said the release, which did not provide the name and nationality of the deceased. Police investigations continue.
The death of this visitor brings to 3, the number of visitors to die in Grenada’s jurisdiction as of 18 February 2024, including a British couple that Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, in his capacity as Minister for National Security, said died from “apparent drowning” on the Grenadine island of Carriacou, which falls under the governance of Grenada.
Presumed dead, but not yet confirmed, is an American couple whose yacht was hijacked by 3 men who escaped lawful custody at a police station while awaiting a court hearing to answer several charges, including rape and robbery with violence.
Thank you Roxanne, presume in law is to assume as true in the absence of proof to the contrary.
Within hours of the report of the child killing in carriacou, the media was able to say which part of carriacou.
When thing happen on poor people property the media is quick to name and show the premises.
Why is it the hotel in the south cannot be named? Is it that the incident is not confirmed?
Why is it that we can mascarade with poor people faces when things happen but we are so afraid of publishing names and faces of incidents involving certain sectors.
Every person, every family, every business has a name to protect. It is time the media stop been bias in their reporting.
“A hotel in the south of the island” foolishness.
When incidents happen on the carenage, 4-roads and Mount Tout.
Media does not report a village in “St. George’s” or “A village in the south of the island”. No.
It’s time to come clear with the facts stop the foolishness.
Female unresponsive to CPR-1, British couple died from “drowning “ in Carriacou-2, and American couple presumed dead-2, five not three.
Presumed dead is not confirmation of death. So officially 3 confirmed deaths not 5.
Excuse me. You done autopsies yet? Those elderly persons on Carriacou weren’t even in the ocean from initial reports, so how could they drown? Word is husband drowned wife in Radisson pool.
Thank you JenJen the Journalist is known to report misinformation.
The journalist has only quoted official reports from authorities. She has quoted the RGPF and the Minister of National Security. You can reread and see the quotation marks.
