A delegation of 5 servicemen attached to the British Armed Forces visited Grenada between 31 January and 21 February 2024, to participate in the 50th anniversary of Independence celebrations.
The delegation consisted of the following members:
- Sgt Kenneth Charles
- SSgt Melissa Forrester-Frame
- Sgt Kester Baptiste
- Cpl Bevon Joseph
- LCpl Princess Rodney
They assisted the independence celebrations’ National Organising Committee by providing medical support during the parade on 7 February. They also took the opportunity to meet with Resident British Commissioner to Grenada Victor Clark to chat about their plans for community engagement while here.
Some of this included training sessions with a number of educational institutions and community organisations namely the St Andrews Anglican Secondary School, Bridge Inc and the Birchgrove Community Council Group.
Following a meeting with Commissioner of Police (Ag) Don McKenzie and other members of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) to discuss plans around future training, the delegation collaborated on a 3-day hands-on workshop which included battlefield casualty drills and basic life support training with members of the Special Services Unit (SSU).

This is brilliant stuff from my fellow service men and women. The British Grenadian Armed Forces Association (BGAFA) is representing both countries well!
