An opportunity exists for a professional with proven competence in Internal Auditing practices to strengthen controls and ensure that practices are in compliance with relevant policies, procedures, as well as statutory and regulatory obligations.
Position: Manager: Internal Audit
Job Summary:
The Manager will provide independent and objective assurance over Ariza’s risk management, internal control, governance and the processes in place for ensuring effectiveness, efficiency and economy. The incumbent will evaluate the adequacy of risk controls, and level of compliance with policies, procedures, statutory and regulatory obligations and recommend improvements to operating practices and financial and risk management processes of the Credit Union.
Responsibilities would include:
- Develop audit work plan to perform a comprehensive review of the control environment identifying “high risk” functional areas.
- Prepare audit programmes to conduct audit testing to evaluate internal control effectiveness in all areas of the credit union’s operations and reporting including information technology, disaster preparedness and security.
- Execute governance, financial and operational control audits in compliance with audit standards and internal procedures while maintaining independence and objectivity.
- Participate in risk assessment exercises and strategic planning meetings.
- Conduct special projects or audits at the request of the Board, Supervisory and Compliance Committee or Chief Executive Officer.
- Review and assess internal controls, policies, and procedures for completeness and effectiveness to mitigate process risks.
- Review all audit workpapers to ensure accuracy, completeness and adherence to standards and internal procedures.
- Discuss audit findings with Auditees with focus on business risk, control weaknesses and operational efficiency improvements.
- Finalise audit reports with management’s response and action plan for submission to and discussion with the Audit Committee in a timely manner.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of all laws, regulations and policies related to assigned job function.
Requirements:
• Education and Training:
- A recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or CPA.
- Membership with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) would be an asset.
- Continued Professional Development training in accounting and auditing reporting standards and risk management.
• Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of auditing experience required.
- Experience in working with or auditing in a financial institution is required.
- Evidence of the ability to exercise professional scepticism: look for evidence of potential fraud, manipulation or deviation from financial reporting standards is required.
