Three men who were arrested for rape, robbery with violence, and other crimes, continue to be on the run 3 days after Police issued a release informing the public that they have escaped from lawful custody.
On Friday, 16 February 2024, Police issued a release saying that Ron Mitchell, 30 years old, Unemployed, Atiba Stanisclaus, 25 years old, Farmer and Trevon Robertson, 23 years old, Unemployed, all of Paradise, St Andrew, were arrested and jointly charged with 2 counts of Robbery with Violence, in connection with separate incidents between 1 January and 9 February 2024, at Grand Anse Beach, St George.

The release also noted that “These suspects may be armed and dangerous and should be approached with caution.”
I have to agree Tom.
I’ve visited Grenada three wonderful times. I love it and its people and even explored the possibility of finding work there/moving there. I felt that safe and welcomed.
This horrific story does make me pause.
And then I read that another dangerous prisoner escaped from custody!
This media is never up to date. These men ha e already been caught. So why not inform the population.
Seriously! How is this the PM s fault ? The first incident happened under the prior administration, Grenada is still very safe,I feel very bad for the families of the lives lost, please stop blaming Grenada but the stupid criminals
Heads should roll I hope the u.s citizens family sus the grenadian government and and take them to court your pm is no good looking after your citizens. And visitors now Grenada is not the islands of spice it is now the island of murders congratulations pm
How dare you, what about the foreigners who are killed in the USA, any justice for them. Its very sad what has happened to the couple and my condolences go out to their family but don’t you dare make out that this the PM fault and that Grenada is a crime infested island, USA is a crime in itself!! Nothing good to say, don’t say nothing and your opinion is not welcomed!!

We (Senior citizens) spent many many years in Grenada. Last year in March we took a #1 bus from near the Lagoon, headed towards Trueblue at night time.
The bus stopped at Wall Street and everyone got off except for us. We handed the conductor our fare as the conductor closed the door and they drove away from the bus stop at Wall Street headed south, when suddenly the bus driver hit the brakes really hard and pulled a very violent U turn just before the Excel Plaza. Then he started driving north again toward Spiceland Mall at a very fast speed. We were SCARED…and have never experienced anything like it in all of our years in Grenada. We truly thought we were being kidnapped and driven somewhere for evil purpose. We still remember the nasty deranged expressions on the faces of the driver and the conductor as we raced down the road.
Suddenly the driver slammed on the brakes, the conductor threw the door open and screamed GET OUT NOW. We ended up walking the rest of the way home.
We have spent many years in Grenada and love the people dearly. We miss our friends there. It pains us DEEPLY to say, we have not returned. After all of our years, it is very hard to be away. We truly miss the many good and wonderful people of Grenada, but things have changed. We miss you all.
The horror of what was done to these yachties is beyond anything imaginable. We offer our deepest, most sincere condolences to the family and to the cruising community, and we remind the authorities and government that your actions have an impact.
I hope that you reported the bus who did that.
Well Grenada now these three men have murdered two USA citizens it is now not the island of spice is the island of murders. Congratulations to the police who let them get away and where is your PM now it hasn’t even said to us people sorry
When you provide no other avenues for young people to vent their frustration, they will indulge in negativity. Do you blame them for their actions or do you blame the system they’re apart of for not teaching them better.
A dog that has the most potential will bite up your couch jump out of you cage chew everything and bite other people. Only until you train that dog will it behave. Conversely a dog without any potential will just lay there all day and wait to be fed.
Educate your people before it’s too late. With the violent music and the poverty, lack of education and frustration. The actions of people shouldn’t surprise anyone. If they knew better they would do better.
Well sir or madam they can go to the gym and do boxing or some sports to get their frustration out of them if not put some boxer gloves on and hit a tree what you said don’t make no sense mate so at the end of the day there is no excuse for violence rape or murder so at the end of the day though it’s no excuse for it grow up
Well said. There is absolutely no excuse for people who rape, murder etc. They are not committing crime purely for gain not for sustenance!
Correction: Well said. There is absolutely no excuse for people who rape, murder etc. They are committing crime purely for gain not for sustenance!
No when people have no morals they will commit these acts. There are opportunities abound but these three insults decided to rape rob and murder because that is who they are. I hope they are locked up for life. The prime minister owes the family of the deceased more than an apology.
Criminals like these need to be dealt with harshly by the court. Visitors will hear about such crimes which are increasing in volume and choose other islands to visit avoiding Grenada. The increase in violent crimes and possession of illegal guns has gotten out of hand.
Jazmine, I live in Boise, ID – over 3,800 miles away from the Spice Island. I have made 6+ trips to the beautiful Island of Grenada; and would definitely think harder about returning if something like this would happen again. I am sure there are others like me keeping an eye on the outcome of this tragedy; and monitoring crime in general on Grenada – wondering if there might be someplace similar to the Grenada Experience of our past that is currently safer.
