A Grenadian contingent of 4 arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Saturday, 2 September, to participate in the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships, Netanya.
The Junior Swimming Championships run from 4–9 September and will host swimmers and other aquatic competitors from around the world. The Grenadian team comprises 2 female national swimmers, Sara Dowden and Gabrielle Hyson and one male, Nathan Fletcher and their coach Gerson Escobar. Each of these swimmers has previously participated in several regional and international competitions; however, this will be their first participation in a World event.
Prior to their departure, the swimmers had been engaged in training in preparation for these competitions. The following are the events in which each swimmer will compete:
Dowden will compete in 4 events: 100 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 200 IM and 100 Butterfly, while Hyson will compete in 5 events: 400 IM, 100 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 200 IM and 100 Butterfly. Fletcher, will compete in 7 events: 100 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, 200 IM, 100 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly and 50 Breaststroke.
