The Grenada Meteorological Service is currently monitoring the westward movement of a tropical wave.
Synopsis: At 2 pm, the axis of a central Atlantic tropical wave was along 58°W south of 16°N, which is approximately 220 nautical miles east of Grenada. It is moving westward at 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is within 180 nm west of the wave from 09°N to 13°N. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is within 270 nm either side of the wave axis from 07°N to 16°N and is currently affecting the Windward and southern Leeward Islands. This wave is expected to produce cloudy to overcast conditions, enhanced rainfall and gusty winds across the Windward Islands including Grenada this evening into tonight.
Forecast for the State of Grenada: Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique can expect mostly cloudy conditions during the evening with heavier showers and possible thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds during the night.
These conditions can improve or deteriorate over time. Thus, the Met Office continues to monitor the progress of this Tropical Wave as it moves across the island chain.
