Prime Minister Dr the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell has been active in his constituency this week, encouraging workers employed with the de-bushing programme to get vaccinated and adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.

In a series of visits to teams in various parts of St George North West, Dr Mitchell spoke to workers about the benefits of being vaccinated, encouraging them to see the value in protecting their lives and that of loved ones.

He also underscored the need for continued adherence to the protocols to curb the spread of the virus.

Prime Minister Mitchell with de-bushing workers in Grand Mal – October 2021

Dr Mitchell said, “The Covid-19 situation has improved significantly over the past few weeks and I can’t stress enough the importance of ensuring that the numbers keep declining. We have experienced significant loss of life and many workers have been put on the breadline, therefore, in addition to the measures being taken by Government, we must accept our individual responsibility to help the situation improve further.”

He added, “I am able to recommend vaccination to you because I have done myself. I want to see us all protected. I grasped the first opportunity to be fully-vaccinated, my mom who will soon be 99-years old, is also fully vaccinated. The experts have told us and the statistics prove it, vaccination helps, it reduces the risk of serious disease, hospitalisation and death. It is our best option for protection against Covid-19.”

The de-bushing programme resumed this week after being put on hold for several weeks due to the spike in Covid.

Come on guys, you don’t have to depend on the Prime Minister to talk you into taking care of yourselves. Just do it already!!!

He is human just like you and you all are adults and have been vaccinated before from childhood. Why not this vaccine? Use your common sense. Ok so you get vaccinated and die in 2 years, just saying , and you don’t get vaccinated and die in 2days or maybe 2weeks, which is better?

Fully vaccinated Grenadian living abroad and really, really want to come home for a visit…..miss me country.

If you are so confident in the ability of the vaccine to defend you then there is nothing to fear in coming to Grenada.
If however you have done some research and found the numbers of breakthrough cases around the World are rising maybe you would not be so confident in it’s ability…. However considering most places our external citizens live are engulfed in the virus it seems pretty pointless to put your visit on hold.
However one point to note is the fatality rate here is extremely high as compared to the hospitalised rate, at roughly 2/3rds So if you catch it. Watch out.

Lol. Good one. You had all the faith to take the vaccine and now you’re afraid to test it. Funny eh. They live in countries with bigger crowds and much more cases but afraid to travel to a tiny island. You have your vaccine immunity where you will get none or very mild symptoms (according to the “experts”) so what are you afraid of? If you waiting on the whole population to take it, you will have a longer time to wait.

The vaccinated SHOULD hold a card and display it at all times. As THEY are more likely to be asymptomatic and pass on a newly acquired infection that they may well not know has happened. Whereas a naive unvaccinated person will very quickly with this new Delta virus feel ill, and quickly stay home, or seek help. Thus reducing their chances of spreading.
It is recognised that vaccinated people with a new infection… otherwise known as “breakthrough” give off just as much viral load as unvaccinated people. Ergo it is not unvaccinated that are super spreaders, but vaccinated.

This advice is coming from a man who said that he would not force anyone to take the vaccine. But with the illogical and incoherent vaccine passport strategy now being legally forced on Grenadians, why should we even listen or report on what he now has to say? News, news news….. We can’t stop reporting it even if it makes absolutely no sense!

  4. Jackie says:

One can only hope they will listen to his advice..Grenada needs loads more people to be vaccinated because this virus is still the lethal invisible enemy..take care everybody don’t become complacent..

He encourage. Why is he not mandating. He making the private hotels, day cares, retail stores etc MANDATE their staff. He is the employer so why is he not doing the same mandate to show he is leading. Cause them is who does run vote for him so he ain’t want to force them. The politics in the country is sad. These same debushing people is who had all the free time to go play Jab and home 3/4 collecting free money from tax payers who have to work hard and must take said vaccine to keep their work. Real SH in this country

I completely agree, anyone working for government should be mandated to be vaccinated. This should include health service, police, Fire Brigade, airport, teachers, bush workers et al. Plenty more people can fill these jobs if they don’t want them.

      • Grenadian says:

Don’t need agreement. It was meant to be cynical. The PM does what he wants to benefit him. He wants their vote to win again so he butters up the people who he needs to vote for him. It just blatantly shows the one-sided way in this place. I am by no means in agreement for any vaccine mandate. People have their right to do as they please with the little piece of illusion that says we are “free”.
