Enhanced protocols ❗
Any rules or regulations will only be effective if they are adhered to by EVERYONE ❗
Surely ‘front line workers ‘ are all medical staff, including anyone who works within the sector.
Teachers, delivery drivers, shop workers…
People who are dealing with the general public AS PART OF THEIR EVERY DAY WORK ❗
As tourism industry is not operating during these unprecedented times, HOW can they be considered Front line workers ❓
Watching and following the news it appears that ‘Mass Vaccination ‘ has been opened to the public at large.
Here in the UK and in many countries the vaccine has been offered to people in different categories.
Age
Health
Vulnerability
The elderly and vulnerable being the top of the list. This is in the hope that ‘if’ they contract C19 it will lesson the severity, need for I.C.U and deaths.
As for the question regarding Sandals ❗
It all comes down to the
So why are hotel workers suddenly “front line workers” who are entitled to get the vaccine before Elderly Grenadian Citizens? Why are they given treatment-priority over our older citizens – whom we know are much more at risk than anyone else? Again, Grenada sucks up to the Tourism God. Such policy and behavior is disgusting!!
Its not rocket science, Hotel workers other than immigration, and or taxi drivers are amoung the first to encounter persons coming from abroad. hence they are classed as frontline. They are the ones dabbling with visitors on a day to day basis.
That is not true Everyone who requested the vaccine received it and special efforts were made fir the elderly including home visits
If they are so superior why are they signing it?
Why the constant sucking up to Sandals? Hotel protocols MUST be the same for every hotel. After the last fiasco you beter make things very plain to the ENTIRE ISLAND as to what these “improved” actions are . Transparency. More testing means squat. It is all down to quarantine. Please be aware, you have not even told Grenadians the truth. Sandals is the only hotel I hear this government talking about. A little too preferential. As to opening up in April 2021, I think NOT. The rest of the world isn’t vaccinated yet, they are are NOT flying to the Caribbean, and you HAVE NOT done due diligence actually VACCINATING THOSE MOSE VULNERABLE. Which is the elderly NOT Tourism workers.
Did you remember to tell these people the vaccine does not make them immune to the disease? Did you bother to tell them they MUST continue to wear masks while they wait a minimum of two weeks for the antibodies to form because even after a vaccination they call still catch covid. They may not die from it but they can contract the virus and still spread it around to others. So finally tell the truth to everyone.
Were the previous protocols also not “enhanced”?
A side by side “before and after” table detailing precisely what new measures have been agreed to would be helpful to us, the readers. Even if it would draw renewed attention to the inadequacy of the prior measures.
Into what precious metal category do the new enhanced measures fall – platinum, gold, or another precious metal?
Have we not, by now, agreed to do away with this “Honourable” nonsense as a vestige of a dishonourable colonial past?
Is the vaccine for all staff or only who wants it because it’s not mandatory to take it
The vaccine should not be mandatory; individual choice should be paramount.
However, employers should have the right to insist being vaccinated as a requirement in order to carry out specific jobs.
Likewise, private and public establishments should have the right to exclude visitors or customers who have not been vaccinated.
Healthcare resources should be redirected from cure treatments to preventative treatments in illnesses where people exercised their choice to refuse vaccination or preventative measures or had voluntarily exposed themselves to developing illnesses such as the consequences of smoking and poor diets.
