The Government of Grenada is cognisant of the many Grenadian nationals abroad wishing to return to Grenada, as well as others who are eager to visit our shores.
As the pandemic has worsened in major source markets, such as the United States, the government has put in place additional safety measures to ensure that we protect the health of Grenadians at home, and that we continue to successfully guard against the virus on our shores.
In view of this, the initial 1 July date indicated for the commercial reopening of Grenada’s borders had to be postponed because of the heightened risks seen in some major source markets. We also had to secure our domestic capacity to mitigate against any increased spread of the virus resulting from incoming passengers.
The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has been in contact with the management of the airlines and other stakeholders, as we plan for a smooth and secure process, when borders are eventually reopened. Flights and schedules will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
The reopening process takes into consideration the health risks possibly posed by passengers coming from different regions of the world.
Countries will be categorised as Low, Medium or High risk, for the purposes of entry requirements to Grenada.
- From 15 July 2020, the airport will accept commercial flights from countries across the Caribbean region, viewed as Low risk.
- From 1 August, the airport will accept international flights, from countries listed as Medium risk, such as Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries in the European Union.
- Only chartered flights will be accommodated from all other countries not mentioned, until further notice.
Grenadian Nationals and visitors wishing to charter a flight from any country, in the interim, must do so through a private entity. Government has accepted a proposal from Caribbean International Trade Inc., to manage all the logistics of this engagement, including the verification of the health and testing requirements, and quarantine accommodations.
Grenada’s diplomatic missions abroad will continue to provide information, document requests, and keep a database of Nationals and anyone seeking to travel to Grenada, but the missions will direct everyone to the managing agency for all coordination of chartered flights, such as bookings and requirements for entry.
All information related to health, testing and quarantine entry requirements for travel can be obtained through Grenada’s diplomatic missions and tourism offices abroad; as well as from Caribbean International Trade Inc. at email: [email protected] and telephone numbers: 349 379-1922 or 473 415-0551.
Information can also be found on the Ministry of Health’s website covid19.gov.gd.
The Government of Grenada continues to encourage everyone to exercise extreme vigilance in daily activities, so as to safeguard health and save lives during this pandemic.

The longer the government waits the more difficult it will be. Grenada should stop thinking that America is like Grenada. Folks from the entire North East, including Maryland, should be allowed in Grenada.
Names…Eliza Louise Medford….Christine Jennifer Hopkin….trying to get back to New York…thank you for your help.
This is just unbelievable. Grenada need to ensure that they are fully equipped to ensure residents can get home. Other Countries are keeping track of their people upon returning. Grenada need to open up the airport asap. Some people children are left with their neighbors. Parents can’t work because they don’t have anyone to watch their kids. Open up the airport.
Dee, tell yoir daugbter to call mmigration and the , Grenada Mission. She should document. every correspondence
Yes, sorry for the Grenadians who stucked in USA. That country has showed its true colours of agresson, hostility, huge non- compliance towards the covid.19. Disrespectful. Now its a nation the world look down on.
BIG SHAME.
Adam you obviously are pretty ignorant. This has nothing to do with Trump or aggression by the United States. Grenada is an Island of 100,000 people. We have states in America that have over 20 million people in them. We are a free country. Your prime minister can lock you down in your homes like animals because it’s easy to enforce. In America this cannot happen . We have things called The Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Believe me there are alot of things wrong with America. But we are FREE people. If I was you I would be paying attention to what the Chinese are doing in your Country. They are not free people.
William, I don’t think you have the right to call Adam ignorant. Nobody said anything about Trump, and it’s a clear fact that the US is a hostile environment to be in at the moment. People shouldn’t be harassed for wearing a mask while trying to protect themselves and others. Adults also shouldn’t be throwing temper tantrums when asked to wear a mask. The purpose of masks is to safeguard public health as much as possible, but many are too self-centered or unaffected to see that and it has exacerbated the problem.
Additionally, this so-called “freedom” you mentioned has contributed to 3 million COVID-19 infections and 133,000 deaths and counting in the United States. I’m sorry you feel this way about our country, but I believe they acted in our best interest. We have flaws just like everywhere else; our healthcare system would not have been able to handle mass community spread in the hundreds or thousands. Although the measures were not perfect and Grenada’s protocols may have been harsher comparatively, they are a large part of the reason why we only had 23 cases and no deaths.
Well said! The Grenadian government’s actions has stopped the virus from spreading, and saving lives. This virus is deadly, some people are behaving as if its not real. Just because you cant see it, doesn’t mean it dont exist! Dont forget it was a foreigner who brought virus in Grenada and if the Geverment had closed the airport sooner, no one might have been infected. Keep Grenada Safe!
This is good news for the nationals stuck on other Caribbean islands. The Grenadian Government so far have managed this pandemic way better than many many countries with far greater resources…we all know who they are..US..keep safeguarding the nation. The unfortunate people stuck in NY and Florida…please try and stay safe this virus has definitely not run its course and if you do get back to our beautiful Island remember the need to quarantine to keep the rest of us safe also.
My daughter is a medical student in the USA who will complete her rotations and must leave the USA by August 30 or stand the consequences of the USA immigration system; if commercial flights are not available, what will happen to hundreds of students like herself stranded in the USA?
Thankyou grenada for ensuring us that we are fully protected from corona well down for such a strict lockdown ,please can you now assist in the return of my daughter and granddaughter who was born during lock down ,to return back to the uk to seek medical attention as your health care at the general is terrible ,and the private sector very expensive .after paying out thousands of dollars on medical accommodation, vechile rental we now dont have the money to pay for new flights which will cost around 2500 pounds ,is anyone going to rescue them
A family member with children who was visiting New York since February need to return home, The government of Grenada need to charter a flight to help grenadian national still stock in the US and want to go home. There are visting Grenadian in the US who are healthy and Covid19 Negative need to go home. A charter flight will be great..
How is this fair for those in the States? They are categorizing everybody as one. If the government do more research they find for example the state of Florida have 100,000 “cases”. In which they are not retesting individuals to see if they still have it. It is divided by zip codes. There is over 21 million people and probably more in the state of Florida. Therefore, this isn’t being fair to those living in the States. Certain area will have more and others will have less.
Well, I can only speak for myself my husband is there and he can’t leave and I can’t go there. My kids want their father back. It’s hard indeed. At least make it an requirement to have us take the test before we leave and another when we get there. Also place have us in quarantine at our own expensive.
Something have to give!!!
