Police have arrested and charged 20 persons with violating the 2020 Emergency Powers (Covid-19) (No. 2) Regulations, which took effect 7 pm on Monday, 30 March 2020.
Of the 11 arrested on 30 March 2020, ten were charged with violating the curfew and one for breach of the social distancing protocol. 7 of these persons are from the parish of St George, 3 from St David and 1 from St John.
9 were arrested on 31 March 2020 and include 7 from St George, and one each from St Patrick and St Andrew. All charges were related to violating the curfew.
The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) assures the general public of its commitment to the safety of all persons in this challenging time.
With this, the RGPF has established its Operational Management Centre through which all law enforcement responses are coordinated on a national front. To date, we have issued dozens of emergency passes to persons so qualified, hosted several media and television programmes as well as 3 virtual media briefings via Zoom, providing information to the general public and answering to their concerns.
Backed up by mobile patrol, we have also instituted islandwide vehicle checkpoints to prevent unauthorised persons from crossing boundary lines.
Effective today, Wednesday, 1 April 2020, our operations will be enhanced by the use of drones.
The Royal Grenada Police Force thanks the public and the media for the continued support and is encouraging people to continue to provide information on persons who are violating the curfew.
We value your support which is critical to the success of our country in beating Covid-19.
Under the previous Emergency Regulations (No. 1) 27 persons were also arrested and charged.
Office of Commissioner of Police

THANK YOU OUR LEADERSHIP FOR THE GREAT JOB BEING DONE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND WELLNESS IF OUR GRENADA….
I made a Caribbean call to the governments and police forces for drones to be used and am just happy to see it in progress.
Ah yes, the drones. To be honest I’ve been wondering when y’all will start using drones. I mean the officers are people too, even them have limits. Now they might get a little ease with those things around…. Maybe….

Thanks to the RGPG for instituting law and order. May God protect all.
RGPF have been outstanding in their professionalism during this crisis. The public need to do their bit and support them fully.
The young lawbreakers might be recruited into squads of volunteer workers, who may receive meals and maybe a stipend, who go about in local communities, in proper PPE and after being tested, to disinfect public spaces, or run errands for seniors and bedridden people. When universal testing is instituted, they could be given paramedical training and assigned to administering the tests.
Grenada now has 9 confirmed imported cases, community spread is no doubt occurring, and a Limited State of Emergency has been declared. More ancient than humans, viruses have always wanted to eliminate us, and SARS-CoV-2 is only the most recent of the horrendous attacks they have launched against us throughout our history. We have to get very personal about this: it wants each and everyone of us personally dead or it’s subservient host. In practical terms, therefore, the purpose of the Limited State of Emergency is not to save Grenada directly: it’s to do so by giving you, the Grenadian individual, the time, place, and opportunity primarily to save and prolong your own life. There are physical and mental disciplines that will enable you to do so, and you have to exert yourself tirelessly during lockdown to practice them. The physical ones will physically kill the virus, which is a minute sliver of RNA protein wrapped in a protective covering of fats and sugars that soap suds can disintegrate in 20 seconds, and whose RNA alcohol scrambles in 10, and thus include obsessive hand washing, not touching your face, disinfecting surfaces, etc; social distancing and staying at home; and building up the immune system with a modest, nutritious diet, drinking plenty of water, lots of exercise and movement, a stress-free lifestyle, and sunshine. The mental ones (and you can’t accomplish the physical ones until you master them) include concentration and focus, study and thoughtfulness, compassion and charity, meditation and morality, and wisdom. You really can’t wash your hands 100 times a day for the rest of your life and stay sane unless you acquire these mental assets. In addition to staying at home to work on these tasks, it helps considerably to go further and completely self-isolate (which also has the bonus of proving even more lethal to the virus). Don’t waste your Limited State of Emergency. Make a commitment to come out of it a healthier, better person. If one Grenadian saves herself, we are all saved, perhaps even as soon as June 1, 2020.
Well done RGPF tough job but a good start…people need to understand they will be punished if they break the law which after all is designed for all our protection..even the ones stupid enough to break curfew!!
