The Grenada Bar Assocation commenced its Annual Law Week activities on Sunday, 30 October 2016, under the Theme: Empowering others, Empowering ourselves. The GBA Program of Activities commenced with a Prayer Breakfast led by Pastor Joachim Phillip, at the True Blue Bay Resort from 8:30 am.
From Monday 31st of October, members of the Bar will be undertaking School Visits and facilitating Magistrate’s Court Visits for students.
On Wednesday 2nd of November, another highlight of Law Week, the Pro bono (free) Legal Aid Clinic will be conducted. This year, this will take place in Grenville, St Andrew from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm on November. The Clinic will be conducted at three venues: Franco Chambers, Ciboney Chambers and L A Joseph’s Chambers.
Thursday 3rd of November will see members conducting several activities, including:
- A Prison Visit, at 2:00 pm;
- A Visit to Father Mallighan’s Home at 3:00 pm;
- A Public Lecture and Panel Discussion on constitution reform ahead of Referendum Day, at 6:00 pm, at the Trade Center Annex in Grand Anse, St George. The Public Lecture will be delivered by Justice of Appeal Don Mitchell CBE, QC, (retired).
The Panel Discussion will include Panelists Ms Claudette Joseph and Mr Ruggles Ferguson. ALL ARE INVITED.
On Friday 4th of November there will be a Student Moot with TAMCC Students at 4:30 pm at High Court No. 4, at the LIME Building, Carenage, St George’s. Justice of Appeal Don Mitchell CBE, QC, (retired) will preside.
Finally, on Saturday 5th of November, there will be a Lecture by Mr Paul Garlik QC on Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in collaboration with the Financial Intelligence Unit, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Trinidad Conference Room of the Radisson Resort.
