{"id":89653,"date":"2022-06-08T18:04:17","date_gmt":"2022-06-08T22:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nowgrenada.com\/?p=89653"},"modified":"2022-06-08T18:04:17","modified_gmt":"2022-06-08T22:04:17","slug":"gtawu-summons-grenlec-workers-to-emergency-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nowgrenada.com\/2022\/06\/gtawu-summons-grenlec-workers-to-emergency-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"GTAWU summons Grenlec workers to emergency meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Grenada Technical and Allied Workers\u2019 Union (GTAWU) has summoned all its members at the Grenada Electricity Services Limited to an emergency meeting to be held on Thursday, 9 June 2022, at the Company\u2019s compound at the Dusty Highway car park from 8 am.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Grenada Technical and Allied Workers\u2019 Union and Grenada Electricity Services Limited have been meeting to try to reach agreement on amendments to the existing Collective Labour Agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The Union and Company arrived at a settlement on salary increases before the Minister for Labour on 16 May 2022. It was agreed that the parties will meet to continue negotiations towards completing the other amendments to the Collective Labour Agreement.<\/p>\n<p>On 24 May 2022, GTAWU wrote Grenlec proposing to meet on Wednesday, 1 June 2022. On Wednesday, 1 June 2022, the Union received an email (sent during the night of 31 May 2022) from the Company indicating their inability to meet on 1 June 2022, without proposing an alternative date.<\/p>\n<p>On 1 June 2022, GTAWU responded proposing that the parties meet on or before Tuesday, 7 June 2022, for the continuation of negotiations, failing which the Union and workers will have no other option than to take whatever action(s) as may be deemed necessary.
