- GTA employees are highly exposed for infection and transmission of virus
- All direct and indirect employees of GTA are expected to become vaccinated
- Protecting nation’s lives and livelihoods in tourism industry of paramount importance
As a result of a Covid-19 Health and Safety Policy, all direct and indirect employees of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) are expected to become vaccinated with one of the Covid-19 vaccines that are currently available on the island.
“Effective October 7, 2021, the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has implemented a Covid-19 Health and Safety Policy for employees of the organisation and its GTA facilities. In accordance with best practices for the industry and the requirement that visitors to Grenada must be vaccinated, this new policy takes into consideration GTA’s obligation to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all its employees” said a news release from the GTA.
“This policy is in keeping with GTA’s mandate to develop all aspects of the tourism industry of Grenada and to secure the most favorable arrangements for the entry of tourists in Grenada,” said the release which explained that GTA employees are highly exposed for infection and transmission of the virus.
“As GTA employees are at a high risk of exposure to Covid-19, GTA’s Covid-19 Health and Safety Policy is designed to safeguard our employees and their families, tourism stakeholders and visitors to our shores, as well as the wider Grenadian public,” said the release.
The GTA said that protecting the nation’s lives, and livelihoods in the tourism industry is of paramount importance in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Established in 2013 after the Houses of Parliament approved the Grenada Tourism Authority Act, the powers and duties of the Authority includes developing all aspects of the tourist industry of Grenada and to promote its efficiency, and adopting all such measures as, in the opinion of the Authority, may be necessary for promoting and thoroughly advertising Grenada as a tourist resort, and for the purpose of materially facilitating and increasing the tourist traffic to Grenada.
Already most of the staff at restaurants, hotels, guest houses and apartments, and other tourism accommodations are vaccinated.
When will Grenada leave level 4 Covid? It seems to be in decline.
Mandate vaccines for ALL Grenadians – within 2 months the sun will shine on Grenada like never before. “The future is so bright I got to wear shades” will be the norm
This is a joke, the government has forced all tourist businesses to have all staff / employees / operatives fully vaccinated.
Only now is the GTA, who have been going around to all these tourist businesses, unvaccinated, to certify them to be approved as a vaccinated, facility. Only now are they implying that their GTA/government staff should now get vaccinated, I am not seeing a mandate in this article………If the GTA staff is at such high risk of contacting Covid 19, why were they not fully vaccinated, as well as the MOH staff before they came to visit our place, to check out here that every body was vaccinated and approve us.
So if they are so were/are so exposed and we needed to be vaccinated before they would certify us. Surly the enforcers should be leading the way, just like the RGPF, they should be the first to be vaccinated surly, something is very wrong here.
This press release is just political bull.
That’s the problem. Politics. Make policies to mandate from the private sector but the public sector walking around like nothing. Education Min telling parents to take their children to vaccine but they yet to say teachers must take it for schools to open. All the pressure on the private man. The government as one of the biggest employers has failed to lead the way and the private sector took it they never said we will do it but GoG must lead by making their employees compliant. Smh. The PM fraid he ain’t want to look unfavorable in the public sector cause elections ain’t so far. But what is for the goose good for the gander too
