  • 3-member delegation attending 2025 OPEC Fund Development Forum
  • Minister Cornwall to contribute to plenary discussion on “Scaling Solutions for Vulnerable Economies”
  • Participation underscores Grenada’s ongoing commitment to international cooperation

A 3-member delegation from Grenada, headed by Minister for Finance Dennis Cornwall, will be attending the 2025 Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Fund Development Forum, which will be held in Vienna, Austria, on 17 June 2025.

Minister Cornwall will depart the state on Sunday to attend the forum, which will include government leaders, heads of finance and development institutions, and senior representatives from the public and private sectors to engage in meaningful dialogue on sustainable solutions to address pressing global challenges.

Grenada’s other delegates are Ambassador Andrea St Bernard, Special Envoy for Development and Investment to the Government of Grenada, and Damian Dolland, Lead Consultant for Project Polaris.

Taking place under the theme, “A transition that empowers our tomorrow,” the forum will highlight the importance of inclusive and adaptable development frameworks in the face of growing global uncertainties.

The forum will tackle 4 high-impact themes: financing development, climate resilience, digital inclusion and sustainable transitions for vulnerable economies. Sessions will focus on generating actionable ideas and partnerships that can accelerate progress toward the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A series of cooperation agreements will be signed to further strengthen South-South partnerships.

A Ministry of Finance press release said Minister Cornwall has been invited to contribute to a high-level plenary discussion on the topic “Scaling Solutions for Vulnerable Economies.” The release said, “His participation underscores Grenada’s ongoing commitment to international cooperation and sustainable economic development and is expected to highlight the country’s strategic actions towards advancing resilient growth across the priority sectors.”

Other confirmed speakers include the Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, Vice President and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Botswana; Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan; Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, Minister of Finance of Nepal and Yusuf Murangwa, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda.

Institutional leaders include Daniel M Best, President of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, and Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
