Grenada’s junior cycling team left the island today Friday 3 October and will head to Suriname where they will participate in the 9th Annual Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships which will be held on 4-5 October.

Four cyclists were selected to compete in the junior and juvenile categories and will be accompanied by experienced and national cyclist, Junior Telesford as their manager and coach.

The junior cyclists are Chris Alexis Jr and Hudson Dowden, who both represented Grenada in August at the 2014 OECS Cycling Championships in St. Vincent. Competing in the junior category are Jonathan Celestine and Rennard John.

The two-day event will begin with a 16 kilometer time trial in both the junior and juvenile categories and will conclude on 5 October, with a road race – 92 kilometers for the juniors and 68 kilometers for the juveniles.
