Prime Minister Honourable Dickon Mitchell, representatives of the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA), and other officials will travel to Carriacou today to offer assistance and provide relief supplies to the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique in the aftermath of the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl.
Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall on 1 July, has caused widespread damage, leaving residents without homes, electricity and essential supplies. “The situation requires our immediate attention, and all efforts must be made to support our sister islands”, said Honourable Dickon Mitchell.
Mr Sylvan McIntyre will be the focal point for the Carriacou Relief Operation, supported by Dr Terrence Walters; National Disaster Coordinator and members of the public and private sectors.
Representatives from the Ministry of Health, Housing Authority of Grenada, public utilities, and the Government Information Service will also travel with the team to assess the damage and aid in psychosocial support.
Grenada remains in a State of Emergency until 7 July 2024, and citizens are encouraged to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety and security.
