Republic Bank advises of an issue impacting some customers which resulted in duplicated charges at 2 of our terminals at Real Value Supermarket.
The bank confirms that corrective action has been taken, and the issue has been resolved.
All affected transactions will be refunded to cardholders’ respective card accounts by 19 June 2024.
Republic Bank apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience and understanding of our valued customers, stakeholders, and Real Value Supermarket.

It wasn’t a duplicate, the charge was done 3 times for the same transaction and on different date as well. Republic needs to do better! An apology isn’t enough, what about the interest on the charges by the customer’s bank? Who is responsible for this? Although there is an issue, the customer is expected to settle the 2 extra charges otherwise risk interest charges. I’m thankful I used my credit card and this wasn’t a debit card issue I was facing.
