The stage is set for a spectacular celebration of Carriacou’s vibrant cultural heritage at the 2024 Carriacou Maroon and String Band Music Festival.
This year’s festivities promise to be an unforgettable experience for attendees.
The event, which opens on Friday night with a village maroon in the southern community of Belmont, Bellevue, and Harvey Vale, is spearheaded by Anderson “Leftist” Matheson, Cultural Officer within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, along with dedicated volunteers.
The Maroon and String Band Festival, from 26–29 April, will include performances from local groups, such as big drums and quadrille dancing, Matheson said.
Saturday’ schedule of activities includes “Strings in the City” in Hillsborough. As well, there will be a cultural explosion at the Botanical Gardens.
The festival will conclude in grand style on Sunday with a beach fest event at the world famous Paradise Beach.
Organisers extend a heartfelt invitation to sponsors and volunteers to join in making this year’s festival, which is supported by the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, a resounding success.
